Pada has just joined the Jeweller's guild. He has been asked to make a trip to meet the guild leader, who is in Esteldin in the North Downs.

I wonder when others join their crafting guild if they are also asked to meet their leader. I think the tailors and woodworkers guild leaders are in Esteldin.

It would be interesting to journey together to Esteldin sometime over the summer (before we reach level 10) . Pada will have to walk/run there but he could hire a horse home.
We could take Wil to Rivendell where the scholars guild is based.

I didn't put this as an event as I have no date in mind.

It would be good to have a forum section for possible events or to discuss and plan a future event before a date is known

Nice idea.
Might be a bit tough getting to Rivendell, but I am sure we can try.

Great idea, Pada! This could be a real challenge - especially Rivendell. But North Downs should be doable with a good sized group. That could actually be a lot of fun, also RP-ing it.

And it's a good idea to have a forum for ideas for RP-adventures and other events. I think we should use the "Slowtro Adventures" forum for that, so I'll move this thread there.

I'll add some practical insights having attempted Esteldin with Talarka at L6 (and succeeded) and attempted Rivendell with Gladnagl at L24 (and failed).

Rivendell first, getting there on foot is not going to happen at our levels. Even if you knew the exact path, the switchback past the Ford of Bruinen are so narrow and the L32+ mobs so aggressive you'll be cut down immediately on foot, and only very lucky if you stay mounted the whole way if you ride there on your own horse. I believe the agro bubble radius is much wider when there is such a level difference. Even a Writ of Special Passage will not get you to Rivendell if you haven't been there before (it only waves the fee and any Quest requirements).

However, you'll get a free port to Rivendell from Gandalf just after the visit to the Great Barrows. If you have Ost Guruth already unlocked, it's an easy stable ride from the Trollshaws back to Ost Guruth, otherwise you can use a milestone to get back out. Either way, it's going to be tough to roleplay in a believable fashion without resorting to magic. For a slowtro human, the Scholars Guild will be more of a "bucket list" event.

Estelden, on the other hand, is very doable and much easier to RP. The Woodworking, Jewelry, and Tailor Guilds are attached to the Crafting Hall. You can do like Talarka did when he joined the Tailor's Guild and hop a mount, flying like a Nazgul out of Mordor, and don't stop until you get inside the Ranger camp.

Weaponsmith and Metalsmith Guildies have it easy, they are both out of Thorin's Hall. When Talarka switched to Armsman, he'll join the Weaponsmith guild as soon as he hits Expert.

I'd be up for a trip to Esteldin to join the woodworkers guild!

I just tried to get to Rivendell with my level 8 Guardian.
I got just shy of the gates to Imladris, but a stealthed lynx saw my demise.

Run run run... would be my advice. You get a warning at the Last Bridge that you are entering a dangerous area and that creatures attack from further afield. Mobs are level 35 here. I ran and kept running, obviously heavy armour and lots of pots helped. There are a few camps along the way you can stop for a breather, but after the Bruinen Gorge the mob density is too thick and like I said, lots of stealthed lynx. I did reach a camp, but as soon as I stopped for a photo opportunity, I got agroed again.

Was fun tho, but dont try this at home.

My Elf lore-master is ICly based in Rivendell (not Slowtro yet cause of level 14) and although I didn't get her a profession yet, Scholar fits her well. But yeah, getting to Rivendell will be a nightmare. (I got to the gates of Rivendell when some mob killed my level 14 Kadhiel.)
Come now laddies... Allow me to tell ye a little old tale... Long ago...

My elf scholar Mithferedir made it on horseback to Rivendell at 6 or 7 - he's 7 now. He had one unpleasant setback, also thanks to a stealthy lynx, but made it through on the second try. He gave the Bruinen Ford switchback mobs as wide a berth as possible, then outran them with his journeyman riding skill. A bear and a boar each got in one lick that was mostly deflected by the armour on the borrowed Hammerhand horse. He plans to stay in the Last Homely House for a good while, waiting for his lynx wounds to heal.
