We had a lot of fun hunting spiders yesterday in the North Trollshaws - and it was great to see some new turtles online.
However, it was also a very confusing session and some people felt they wasted a lot of time because they weren't at the same stage of the quests. We need to make sure that everybody's part of the fun!
So, in the future we'll need to settle on some rules for our group dynamics:
1. GROUP LEADER: One (1) player is the group leader and calls the shots (preferably In Character). It doesn't have to be Bera, but could be anybody. This player should also be the fellowship leader. This is to ensure that we all know what we're doing and that noone is left behind or lost in the mindless slaughter (fun as that may be). The group leader must be fair and listen to everybody involved - but must also sometimes make tough decisions. The group leader is welcome to communicate In Character - and the others are welcome to respond in kind. Let's slow down a bit and give us time to take in the surroundings and the great quests LOTRO has in store for us.
2. SAME QUESTLINE: It is the group leader's obligation to make sure that everybody's on the same part of the questline, especially regarding difficult group quests that can be hard to solo. Or at least to make sure that those not on the present quest are ok with helping and tagging along (which is often the case, since we're nice turtles and help each other).
3. DESIGNATED TANK: One (1) player is the designated tank and makes the pulls - especially in dangerous territory. This is not only a question of survival, but also a question of fun and avoiding confusion and random slaughter which tends to get boring. The group leader does not have to be the tank, although they can be. The group leader can use ready checks to make sure when it's time to go.
The rules are not written in stone and should of course be adjusted to the situation - but in order for everybody to enjoy their sessions, we should agree on what they are about. Otherwise we'll run around like headless chickens and get wiped a bit too often...

*bumping* this thread to remind everybody that it's important to make sure that everybody's part of the fun in a slowtro session.
Last night we have a bit of a coordination issue because some players were not on the same quests, and the ones further ahead were not willing to slow down a bit and take a five minute detour to let everybody get the quests so we could all go along as a team.
Just reminding that it's important to play "follow the leader" - at least the beginning - to make sure that everybody's part of the fun.
